Agra is close enough to Delhi to visit in a single day, yet far enough that most travelers don't attempt it without a plan. This Taj Mahal day tour from Delhi by car covers the 220 km drive each way. Even after that you get enough time to properly see all three of Agra's major landmarks — not just rush past the Taj for a photo.
The day's centerpiece is, of course, the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan built this white marble mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. It is one of the most recognizable monuments in the world. No amount of photos really prepares you for seeing it in person. This same-day Taj Mahal tour by car is timed to give you enough time to explore inside the complex rather than a rushed walkthrough.
After spending some time at Taj Mahal, from there, the tour moves to Agra Fort. It is a red sandstone fortress that predates the Taj and offers a very different side of Mughal architecture. Thick walls, courtyards, and views across the river toward the Taj itself are what make it a perfect travel destination in Agra. It's a useful contrast: where the Taj is delicate and symmetrical, Agra Fort is imposing and defensive.
The final stop is Sikandra, the tomb of Akbar, Shah Jahan's grandfather. It's quieter and less crowded than the other two stops, with a distinct architectural style that blends Islamic, Hindu, Christian, and Jain elements — a reflection of Akbar's own approach to religion and rule.
Because this is a long day, we will depart around 6 AM and return by 9 PM. The drive itself is a real part of the experience. A private car means you can rest, stop when needed, and avoid the scheduling stress of matching a group's pace. This Agra tour package one day works well whether you're doing it solo, as a couple, or with family, since the pacing can flex around who's traveling.
This package starts at Rs. X per person, though the final cost depends on vehicle type, group size, and whether meals are included. The sites covered stay the same regardless of package tier.
Given the distance, this is a long day by design, around 15 hours door to door — but it's the most time-efficient way to see Agra without committing to an overnight stay.

10:00 AM – Breakfast in Agra
Before we start with our Agra sightseeing, we will take a quick stop to refuel. Try Aaloo Bedhai paired with spicy potato curry and some Jalebi which are freshly fried and crisp sweets.
12:00 PM – The Taj Mahal
Step into one of the world's most photographed monuments. Two hours is set aside here for you to absorb the charm of this monument. It is enough time to walk the grounds, take in the marble inlay work up close, and simply sit with the view for a while instead of rushing through. For the best experience, hire a local guide who will reveal the secrets of the Taj Mahal that coax millions every year.
2:15 PM – Agra Fort
After spending your morning in front of the Taj Mahal, a short drive brings you to this red sandstone fortress. It was built well before the Taj and tells a very different story. The fort has thick defensive walls, sprawling courtyards, and a fort-eye view of the Taj across the Yamuna.
3:00 PM – Lunch
After a good start to the day, we will stop for a scrumptious and relaxed break before the final stop of the day.
4:00 PM – Sikandra
Sikandara is the resting place of Emperor Akbar, the most famous Mughal. Expect far fewer crowds here, and the architecture itself tells a story. It is a deliberate mix of Islamic, Hindu, Christian, and Jain design. Sikandara mirrors Akbar's unique reign over India.
