Slovenia's Most Spectacular Valley Drive
This Soča Valley Tour takes you through one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Julian Alps. You can explore the Soča River as it winds through dramatic mountains, famous for its striking emerald-green color. This full-day Soča Valley Tour from Ljubljana covers roughly 9 hours. It will start with a scenic drive of around 2–2.5 hours. The package is designed to give you time to properly explore the valley's waterfalls, viewpoints, and mountain pass rather than rushing between stops. Among the various Soča Valley Tour Packages available, this one is designed to cover the full range of highlights in a single, well-paced day.
The Soča River itself has earned international attention as one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. It gained its fame from the scenes from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. It was filmed along the Soča River banks. This adds a cinematic touch to an already stunning drive.
Waterfalls Along the Way
The tour includes stops at several of Slovenia's most photographed waterfalls. Slap Peričnik is reached by a short and easy walk. You can walk behind the falling water for a unique perspective. Slap Kozjak which is near Kobarid, requires a short hike of around 20–30 minutes each way through a narrow gorge trail. It is the only stop on this Soča River Tour in Slovenia itinerary that involves genuine walking. Slap Boka is one of the tallest waterfalls in the country and is typically viewed from a nearby vantage point along the road.
Vršič Pass and Mountain Views
No trip through Soca Valley is complete without crossing Vršič Pass. It is Slovenia's highest mountain pass and one of the most scenic drives in the Alps. This Vršič Pass Tour segment takes you along a dramatic switchback road with sweeping views over the surrounding peaks. You can stop at viewpoints along the way for photos.
Lakes, Gorges, and the Soča River
Along the route the tour also stops at Lake Jasna. It is a pair of striking artificial lakes near Kranjska Gora. It is one of the best tourist places in Slovenia before continuing into the heart of the Soča Valley itself. At Mala/Velika Korita Soče, you can walk down to the water's edge. In summer, you can take a swim in the river's famously clear, cold water. It is one of the most popular photo and rest stops on the entire route.
Optional Add-On: Rafting in Bovec
For travelers looking for some adventure on their private tour to the Soča River, the town of Bovec offers optional rafting on request. It gives you the chance to experience the river's famous rapids firsthand rather than just admiring them from the banks.
A Private Experience at Your Pace
As with every Slovenia Private Tour we run, and consistent across all our Soča Valley Tour Packages, this is a fully private experience. This tour comes with a dedicated driver who manages every transfer between stops. There's no walking between locations on your own. You will be transferred in a private car that takes you directly from one spot to the next. There is no need to worry about transfers or adjust with the crowd on buses. All you need to do is enjoy the scenery.
